NWO Life Sciences is managing at least 18 programs supporting public-private partnerships such as Green I and Green II. To show what’s going on, NWO organized the first symposium about Dutch public-private partnerships (PPP’s) in research , together with the Topsectors ‘Agri and Food’ and ‘Horticulture and Seed Materials’.
The main question of the symposium was how PPP cooperation works in practice. Around 120 participants came to De Rijtuigenloods in Amersfoort looking for answers. In parallel sessions many (young) researchers presented their research in short pitches as well as in posters, the NWO-CCC program CarboKinetics was represented well with 4 posters. In the sessions ‘Best Practices PPP, do’s and don’ts’ Piet Buwalda of AVEBE shared the experience from a business point of view and Lubbert Dijkhuizen of CCC shared his experience as an intermediary developing and executing PPP’s.
‘NWO is very positive about this first symposium’, Marthe Derkzen of NWO says, ‘We will evaluate as soon as possible and decide how to continue next year.’
