On 1 September, Lubbert Dijkhuizen stepped back as scientific director of CCC. Gert-Jan Euverink has been appointed as successor of Lubbert Dijkhuizen in the CCC. After his PhD, Gert-Jan worked, amongst others, at NIKO-TNO as a postdoc researcher, where he stood at the basis of Etenia, a novel food product of Avebe and at Wetsus as scientific program director. In 2011 he was appointed as professor within the ENTEG institute at UoG. He is head of the research group “Products and processes for Biotechnology”. Since January 2018, he is involved in CCC management as leader of new programs such as CarboBased and BioBridge. From now on, Gert-Jan and Henk Schols, from WUR, act as a two-man board of directors of the CCC.
In the past 10 years, Lubbert Dijkhuizen played a crucial role in the development of CCC by creating new and successful research programs and started a long-term cooperation with NWO to co-finance public-private partnerships. Of course, CCC recognizes the contribution of Lubbert Dijkhuizen to CCC and we will honor him in an appropriate manner in the near future. You will read about this soon.
